Summer learning journey week 3 day 5 activity 1.

DAY 5: Here to Stay

DAY 5: Here to Stay

Activity 1: Persistent Pollution [4 points]
In 2016, the World Health Organisation announced that Timaru, a small town in the South Island of New Zealand, had the highest recorded levels of air pollution in New Zealand. Some of this pollution was caused by natural events (eg. fires) but most of it was produced (made) by humans.
Watch this short video on air pollution. It will tell you more about the natural and human causes of pollution.
On your blog, share three new things that you learned about air pollution from this video.

1. Smog can be divide into sulfurous.
2. Smog is a type of air pollution that reduces disability.
3. I learnt that air pollution comes from natural sources such as Volcano eruptions

  1. Hi Michael,

Great to see some good work happening over the Summer! Well done!

For the fact number 2, did you mean it reduces visibility? That means we can't see so far in the smog. I think that might be it. There is definitely smog in Auckland on some days, but we're lucky compared to some countries.
I learned a new fact too about the Volcanic interruptions! I didn't know that it can come from natural sources. Did you know much about smog before?

I hope you keep up the great work.

    Talk to you later
